Marco Neri

Marco Neri (Born in Forlì, Italy in 1968; lives and works in Torriana, Rimini) has earned a place for himself among that artistic elite who have been able to resist the empty attraction of technology. His artistic investigations are rooted in Italian painting, a tradition that has always existed in relationship with its own original visual panorama. 

This relationship with surroundings is particularly evident in artwork by artists like Sironi, Morandi or Virgilio Guidi, and it reaches an equally profound level in Marco Neri's investigations, displaying a more conceptual character that is a product of his times and the work he has conducted from the second half of the 1990s through the early years of this century.

Independently of the media Neri chooses to work with, his artworks are made up of immediately recognizable geometrical lines and volumes; primary and monolithic elementary units that determine recurring elements organized into visual structures turning back in his pictorial periods.

Marco Neri orchestrates and organizes his outlook through themes including architecture, landscapes and portraiture. For him painting, its progressive evolution along horizontal movement, is the very goal of painting, introspective analysis and a search for evident truths. 

Through painting, the artist is searching for a “state of grace": the essence of the search conducted by everyone, both as human beings and as artists.
