Lives and works in Paris, France.
She has lived in Paris since 1993, and works in photography, mainly in black and white. Like a craftsman, she takes her own photos (generally in very large formats) and does not hesitate to invent new processes to illustrate her thinking. “Mysterious” is a word that comes up often when talking about his work, which revolves around these questions: what is photography, and what can it do? Yuki looks for what has never been seen, never been photographed, and tries to bring a new look to photography, a medium that is ultra present in our lives.
By manipulating his photographs using various new techniques (collages, modification of the chemistry of the development bath, insertion of a ball in the photographic box, etc.), Yuki Onodera accesses another level of perception which constitutes the very essence of his work, and allows him to go beyond the framework of "simple" photography. These techniques offer the spectator another presentation of reality, forcing him to observe with attention what he has in front of him. Chance allows Yuki Onodera to create but he always remains controlled and neat, just like the way he works.
