Description

Born in Great Britain, Alastair McNaughton studied art before embarking on a career as an illustrator. Passionate about photography, he then decided to travel the world with his camera. After Africa and India, he arrived in Australia and lived for two years in the community of Coonana (Western Australia) where he took photos illustrating scenes of daily life or the characteristic landscapes of Coonana.

He has since settled in Sydney and also pays homage to this city with photos of emblematic buildings and constructions such as here the salt water pool “Andrew Boy Charlton Pool", initially called “Robinson's Hot and Cold Baths" and built in the years 1830 - 1840.

The first sporting competitions took place there in 1846. Since 1968 it has been named after this hero of Australian swimming, world champion, Olympic champion and world record holder in 1924.

Presentation

Born in the UK in 1949, Alastair McNaughton has studied art before starting his career as an illustrator.
Having a passion for photography, he decided to travel around the world with his camera. After going to Africa and India, he arrived in Australia and lived in the Coonana community (Western Asutralia) for two years.

Alastair McNaughton has a minimal approach of photography. He always takes very few photographs and never uses a tripod or flash: "Natural light and quick exposure are more than enough for me".

He has travelled the world recently to photograph traditional techniques of salt extraction.
