Biography
Sarah-Dawn GELA is an island artist from the Torres Strait (Queensland, Australia). His specialty is to create works in ghostnet or ghost nets. Since 2010 a new artistic movement, that of ghostnet sculptures, has emerged in Australia. The ghost nets or "ghost nets" are scraps of drifting fishing nets lost or abandoned by trawlers in the Timor Sea. Like anti-personnel mines, these continue to capture marine species, many of which are endangered, such as turtles, sharks, dugongs, crocodiles, whales, etc.
