Presentation

Born in 1984, Rémi Chapeaublanc is a self-taught French photographer. His story with photography started during his adolescence, when his father puta camera in his hands. Every week, the young man, perfected his technique and developed his pictures in black and white. His work was mainly intituive and manual at first. Focused on scientific studies, he specialized in the developing of medical images, a way to not lose contact with photography. But he ended up by giving up his job, a choice that he does not regret at all today.

His photographs are from trips in motorcycle that he has done all around the world, in Canada, Norway, Burkina Faso..... his collection "Gods & Beast" took him to Mongolia. There, he discovered the solitary life of nomads and their animals. He then started doing purified protraits in chiaroscuro. Rémi Chapeaublanc treats men and animals as equal subjects in his photographs, questioning nature and the relationships between humans and animals.

Some months after his trip, the photographer returned to meet those who welcomed him, to give them their protraits, in a sharing spirit. "Gods & Beasts" was presented during the Month of the Photo Off in Paris and was awarded at the Festival de la Photographie Animaliére de Montier in Der.
