Biography

Ariel Vargassal is an award-winning visual artist known for his distinctive style and compelling narratives. Originally from Mexico, he is a graduate of the University of Mexico and currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. His career took off on the international stage when he represented Mexico in the visual arts during the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah—his first global exhibition. Recognized for his bold voice and unique artistic vision, Vargassal was named one of the top two best new names in the North American art world by the Artisan Art Series, sponsored by Bombay Sapphire, during ART BASEL WEEK. His work has since been exhibited extensively in solo shows and group exhibitions across the United States, Canada, Japan, Spain, and Mexico. His paintings and installations have also been featured at leading art fairs throughout America and Europe.
 

Vargassal has earned the trust and admiration of gallery owners, not only for the strength of his artistic message but also for the financial success of his work. His art has been featured in a variety of digital publications, books, and television programs, and he has collaborated with rising stars from Hollywood as both models and collectors.
 

In 2021, Vargassal's impact on the art world was further recognized when he was selected as one of the 26 most influential contemporary artists worldwide in a special art book published by Playboy. That same year, he exhibited at the Contemporary Art Museum in Tokyo, representing both the United States and Mexico in an international show held during the Olympic Games.
