"Born in Thailand in 1975, Karuna Panumes is a recluse.
Her works are representations of her inner feeling and emotions.
Her face, gentle and calm, is displayed as having the Sun's light shining through Balinese puppets, or the decaying leaves of the Bodha tree, reflected onto her face.
These are inherently Buddhist images. Calming. Reflective. Introverted.
They are also some of the most original and beautiful images created now anywhere in the world.
In Bali Reflection, Karuna's face is depicted with the shadow of a Balinese hand puppet, one of the characters from the Ramayana, appearing as tattooed onto her face. But it is just a shadow....a passing moment....such as the emotions in our lives."
