Christian Jauréguy was born in Pau in 1930 to a Basque father and a Bigourdan mother. Painter and poet, he studied at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and at the Corlin workshop. After graduating, he became a drawing teacher.
Settled in Avignon, but particularly faithful to his roots, Christian Jauréguy has been involved since the 1950s in a painting based on movement to establish a synthesis of it, and to give the moment a feeling of eternity.
He was particularly noticed at his first exhibition in 1963 in Avignon, and remains a renowned painter with more than six hundred exhibitions in France and throughout the world. His favorite themes are in direct contact with current events, including those inherent to the "sporting gesture".
Many contemporary artists have been largely inspired by this approach, considered at the beginning as antinomic, today in the order of things.
