Marius Zabinski

Born in 1956, Marius began his career as a painter very early on, right after completing a four-year study at l'école des beaux arts in Warsaw, Poland. His pictorial technique already revealed a remarkable edecticism of styles. He is one of the rare kinds of artists in that he was able to make a living from his paintings from the start, unlike many others who are only successful enough to do so much later in their careers.

He began his career in France after being spotted in Warsaw by a French gallerist. The call of this artistic Mecca proved irresistible to the young artist, and although he was already commercially successful, he risked everything and moved to Paris in 1980. The art dealer representing him at the time organised several personal exhibitions for him. Marius was very pleased with the encouraging result of his debut in front of the Parisian public, but at the same time he nurtured his secret passion, painting in his Cubist style, which he intuitively understood to be one of the few areas of painting that had not yet been exploited in its entirety and within which there was still much to be discovered and created.

Contemporary Cubist paintings seen in galleries are generally pastiches inspired by the great masters of the genre and only of secondary importance, even if they are pleasing to the eye. The situation is very different for Marius's works, which reveal an individual personality unlike any other artist. He himself has become a reference in the genre. The existence of a large number of connoisseurs and expert amateurs who appreciate and collect his work is proof that Marius will emerge as a recognised master.
