Joël Circhansky

Of Slavic origin, Joël Circhansky was born on October 15, 1956 in Langon in Gironde.

Graduated from the School of Interior Architecture in Bordeaux.

The taste for travel and change of scenery led him to practice his profession “around the world" for 15 years.

At the same time he painted as an amateur:

A self-taught painter, he uses the strong colors of the tropics and his know-how as an architect with rigorous perspectives, to represent his vision of the world.

Little by little his passion will lead him to the search for material, texture...

In 1990, he moved to the USA, Florida and from 1995, he will be present in several major exhibitions between New York and Florida:

- Hall of Frame – DGP Art Palm Beach, FL.

-Kenneth Raymond Gallery, Boca Raton, FL.

- Gallery Alexi-Chelsea, New York, NY.

In September 2000, he decided to "return to his roots" and returned to France and lived in the Basque Country. The return, the joy of rediscovering the landscapes, scents and colors of the seasons in Europe, will not be without influencing his creations...

Constant research of materials, colors and finally patinas.

In 2001, he created Prismes d'Art , a company that organizes plastic art fairs and exhibitions, in Aquitaine.

He exhibits individually in Galleries and Salon d'Art Plastique.

- Permanent exhibition at the Feille gallery in Clairac, Lot et Garonne.

- Permanent exhibition at the Hôtel de Wique gallery in Pézénas, Hérault.

- Permanent exhibition at the Galerie des Remparts in Bordeaux, Gironde.

- Silver medal nominated "Vermeil" Salon d'Art Inter "Creators of the century" in Aix-en-provence.

- Nominated at the Salon des Indépendants of the city of St Jean de Luz.

- Exhibition at the gallery of the Infanta – St Jean-de-Luz.

- 3 ^rd prize in the 15th “Les Cimaises Libres" competition in Bayonne-Anglet-Biarritz.

- Solo exhibition Gallery of "the Headless Woman" in Bayonne.

- Solo exhibition “Espace Gambetta in Bordeaux"

- International exhibition “Talents of our Time" in 2002, 2003, 2004 in the Basque Country.

- He was listed in the “Repertory of Painters and Sculptors of the Basque Country" by Gilbert Desport, ATLANTICA edition.

Before leaving France for Martigny in Switzerland in 2005, he will still exhibit at the Galerie des Arènes in Bayonne, he will be the Guest of Honor at the 10th Salon des Métiers d'Art des Armées du Sud-Ouest in St Jean-de -Luz placed under the high patronage of Mrs. Michèle Alliot-Marie, Minister of Defence.

Based in Martigny – Valais Switzerland, his activities as an architect and the mandates entrusted to him no longer allow him to practice painting.

Now freed from his professional obligations, he resumes his research of materials and expression which leads him to “abstraction, to feeling the essence…" he says.

Atypical painter, Joël Circhansky for a time, replaced paintbrushes and brushes by the bow borrowed from the cello, then the knife, more in line with his search for renderings, a knife he now uses to offer you some of his latest works " Series 001 – Shards".
