This new series, "The Three-Trunked Oak," by French-Vietnamese artist Florian Sông Nguyễn explores the relationship between humans and trees. In this series, he uses fiction to highlight the symbiosis between humans and plants, highlighting their role in complex ecosystems and inviting us, once again, to rethink our relationship with nature.

His meticulous technique using ink on Vietnamese handmade Dó paper invites us to discover the fragile boundaries between human control and plant autonomy.

Presentation

Born in 1988, Florian Sông Nguyễn is a contemporary artist of Franco-Vietnamese origin. He lives and works between Paris, Ho Chi Minh City and Marrakech.

Traversed by questions of identity, fascinated by mysticism and its invisible territories, he uses the medium of drawing as a tool of exploration.
He draws a world from which men, stones, birds, monsters, stray dogs emerge and whose atmosphere seeks to communicate with our deep intimacy.
Florian places the drawing process at the heart of his thinking and each of his pieces is the culmination of a long journey rooted in contemplation.
It then transpires from each of his pieces, a fluid and meticulous gesture emanating from a state at the limit of our perceptions, in which he immerses himself.
Conceived in a series logic, Florian also deploys his drawing in space in the form of books, installations and performances.

His work will be included in the collections of the Musée Jenisch Vevey in Switzerland in 2024. He has been exhibited at Drawing Now in 2024, at the 73rd Festival Jeune Création in Paris, at the 12th Berlin Biennale, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City, at the French Institute in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, at SPRMKT art space at STPI in Singapore, at Metaxu and at the Axolotl gallery in Toulon, at the Salon DDESSIN 2018, at A2Z art Gallery in Paris, at the Gabinete de Madame Thao in Lisbon and at Rue de Tanger in Casablanca.
