Biography
Visual artist and performer, Morvarid K was born in Tehran in 1982 and although she left Iran relatively early, her attachment to Iranian identity is fundamental to her relationship with the world and her artistic sensitivity.
Through the manipulation of photographic matter, his work questions our relationship to the world, transformative memory and the in-between. The photographic medium is the starting point, it anchors his work in reality, while the techniques of superposition and transformation provide additional expressions that photography cannot capture. The print becomes a material, a step in the creative process, before the gesture, or the performative experience completes the work. The definition that Laurent Derobert, an existential mathematician, gives to the word "lack" is at the heart of his artistic practice: infinite presence of absence.
Morvarid K lives and works in Bordeaux and Berlin.
