Tine Deturck is a French artist born in 1958 who lives and works in Noisy-le-Sec in France.
Review by Marc Baufrère:
Confronted with Tine Deturck's work, we soon find ourselves not so much scrutinizing as scrutinized by the glances set down on paper and canvas that the artist has subtly evoked. It's almost like an “Alice's mirror". This reversal of the order of things is a strange impression. These “torn faces" are as much akin to Munch (“The Scream") in their expressionist violence as they are to the conciseness of a Zen painting. The precision of the brushwork, which has nothing to envy to that of a Hartung, lends these “portraits" an aspect of uncompromising authority: “this is! At the moment of creation, hesitation is clearly out of the question. Reflection only occurs before or after, but certainly not during. This diversity of expression could serve as an illustration of La Bruyère's characters, in a contemporary version. Tine Deturck probes the unspeakable, fleeting impressions of a mental space linked to the human soul. Her “visions" are totally intuitive and tend to capture the essential.                           Â
