Ninomiya Naohiro, who has lived in France since 1988, remains deeply connected to Japanese culture and philosophies. His work Taki is inspired by the Japanese painting "Nachi Waterfall", representing divinity and evoking for him mystery, the passage of time and constant change. Fascinated by the carp, a symbol of strength and perseverance, Ninomiya created the Nokomi series, inspired by the carp swimming upstream near his home. To bring these works to life, he uses handmade washi paper from his native region, whose irregular edges symbolize the perpetual movement of water and the universe.
