Biography

Stephanie Kwaghe is a visual artist based in Nigeria, working primarily with oil paint in a bold impasto style. Stephanie kwaghe's work's explores themes of sustainability, identity, and emotion using texture and depth to express the layered nature of lived experiences. Alongside her oil practice, she creates works using repurposed denim. She's currently expanding into combining both materials, merging the tactile weight of fabric with the expressive energy of paint.

She holds a BA in Visual and Creative Arts from the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Her art is rooted in personal and collective narratives often shaped by memory, resilience, and the emotional landscapes we carry within us.

She has had the opportunity to be published on CanvasRebel Maga and exhibit in several group shows, including: In Conversation: Intellectual Property in the Art & Creative Industries (Abuja, 2023), The Art of Identity and Social Change at AlitFest (Abuja, 2024), La beauté vue par les artistes at L'Exposition Montmartre, Paris (2025).

Through her evolving body of work's, she continues to explore the power of material, memory, and mark-making in telling stories that are both intimate and universal.
