Presentation

Guiyome's work is based on the graphic and pictorial interpretation of what holds his gaze. Art is everywhere in the city, at all levels, from the macadam to the zinc on the roofs. Having the gaze is already an artistic act. When someone is moved in front of one of his paintings, it is because he had the same eyes as the artist and by this work they are then linked. Often a simple detail allows this reconciliation. Consciously or not, this is what causes the emotion and then makes the words unnecessary. He uses the pen to construct his drawing. Globalized tool, of course, but universal. Universal because man is born an artist and draws instinctively before even mastering language. It is the beginning of creation, he transforms reality through his mental image. Its working medium is printing paper. Writing is defined as being the representation of speech and thought. On this support there is already a story, a work, a reflection, an author, an anonymous person, an era, which participate in the painting. This superposition is communication. The image and the writing come together and complement each other. The time difference does not matter, on the contrary, it shows the timelessness of art. 35,000 years ago, humans represented their world on cave walls, it was “the childhood of art” that made Lascaux or Cosquer true art galleries. During our interview in his workshop, Guiyome told us that he liked to identify with this homo sapiens. »GUIYOME was born in Bordeaux in 1971. After studying scenography, GUIYOME worked for 10 years for event decoration and architectural offices. At the same time, he perfected his mastery of painting by exploring his different techniques in the creation of numerous frescoes and trompe-l'oeil. It was by offering his work in Paris to a publisher that he seized his first exhibition opportunity. From then on, the artist's originality and his personal vision of the places that make up our daily lives receive a very warm welcome from a public who is rediscovering Paris. The Jamault Gallery is the first gallery to have presented GUIYOME's work in January 2005. “I travel through Paris in all directions through the arrondissements, using all possible means of transport. On foot then by metro, bus, rollerblading, cycling and sometimes even by boat because each one offers me a different point of view on the city. This is how I come to feel the magic of the capital. Crossing a porch, you find yourself in a courtyard where the spirit of Victor Hugo's novels is still vibrant then turning the corner of the street, you are immersed in a new investigative novel ... Much more than the famous Place de the Concorde, the Vosges or the Eiffel Tower, it is each fireplace, each gutter, each stone which, day after day, allow me to penetrate to the depths of the spirit of this capital which nourishes my passion.
