Tribute to Wilma Ramos
Sao Paulo From May 24, 2022 to June 28, 2022
Presentation
Wilma Ramos (Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, 1937-2009).
Wilma dedicated herself to painting very early on, in 1968. She found her language and remained faithful to her particular style of expression. Round faces, slanted eyes, her characters are unmistakable and most of the time they seem to form a group of well-connected people and this is totally consistent with her own charismatic way of relating.
Wilma was a sweetperson and quite sensitive. He became interested in the Afro-Brazilian rituals of Candomblé and in the folkloric festivals that are still so popular throughout Brazil and more intensely in Bahia. She also liked to interpret country scenes with harmonious and well-orchestrated colors that showed his unshakable optimism for the future. Wilma returned from a 4-year stay in Spain and joined the group of artists who were going to support the new Jacques Ardies gallery in Alto da Boa Vista in 1979. She never failed to participate in all the exhibition invitations. We received unrestricted support from the artist Wilma Ramos and today, 43 years later, we want to mount this exhibition to express our greatest gratitude. We've put together a beautiful collection of paintings from 1981 to 2005.
