The exhibition will take place at our new gallery space in Miami Beach’s historical Art Deco “Governor” Building and will extend to the lobby of the building, steps away from the Miami Beach convention center in the new Collins Park Arts District area. Garden in Hell; Photographs by Horst P. Horst will mark our sixth collaboration with The Horst Estate, and over twenty years of partnership, with previous exhibitions in Miami, New York, Barcelona, Istanbul, and currently in Atlanta with the “Essence of the Times” exhibition at the SCAD FASH MUSEUM OF FASHION + FILM.

For this newest exhibition, gallery curator Juan Carlos Arcila-Duque has selected a spectacular series of never-before-seen images by the “Master of Light and composition“, Horst P. Horst, accompanied by a number of extraordinary black and white and color vintages and limited edition photographs in collaboration with the esteemed collector Gert Elfering.

Horst became well known for his spectacular images of the fashion world over the decades and his intimate portraits of celebrities photographed in their homes. At the instruction of Diana Vreeland, Horst set out to document the unique interiors and characters of elite internationals. Elegant and eccentric, The title of this exhibition "Garden in Hell" is a tribute to Mrs. Vreeland’s, own Upper East Side, NYC apartment, decorated by the legendary interior designer Billy Baldwin.

Horst's fascination with photographing flowers, plants, Roman sculptures, and nudes was more personal than his day-to-day work in the world of fashion and luxury. In his spare time, Horst developed a fascinating body of work that has a life of its own and is much more intimate, created in his home and garden in Oyster Bay, NY over many years. The sensuality and simplicity of these compositions are timeless and they were developed to keep every detail as the master would have intended.
