Description
This striking artwork presents a compelling interplay of geometric forms and textures. Dominating the canvas are irregular, parchment-like rectangles in muted cream hues, seemingly aged and weathered. These elements juxtapose against a rich, dark background of deep browns and blacks, creating a stark contrast that draws the eye. The composition is reminiscent of a modernist mosaic, where each fragment tells its own story. The artwork's dynamic balance between order and chaos evokes a sense of timelessness, while its earthy color palette infuses warmth and depth. Subtle distressing adds an additional layer of intrigue, suggesting history and mystery. This composition skilfully blends abstract expression with geometric precision, making it a captivating centrepiece that invites contemplation and interpretation.
Presentation
"Every painting I begin, the layers and texture continue to fascinate me as does the process. My subject matter remains the same, the material itself, the coast, the sea, lines of desire that criss-cross the landscape, time and its corrosive effect on materials and finding the beauty in what we see around us. The world filters into my studio, colour, light, politics, religion, people. Conversations remain with me, maps mesmerize me, travel enthuses me. Creating and painting is an imperative I couldn't live a day without.“
