Description
This artwork presents a compelling abstract composition, dominated by a large, textured circular motif at its center. The circle, with its worn, almost atmospheric quality, hints at celestial or planetary themes. Surrounding it, chaotic, layered brushstrokes in muted grays, soft pinks, and shimmering golds create a contrasting backdrop. The interplay between the metallic gold and the subtle pastel tones lends a dynamic depth, inviting viewers to explore the interplay of light and shadow. The distressed texture adds a sense of history and movement, suggesting the passage of time and transformation. This piece captivates with its harmonious blend of chaos and order, evoking contemplation and introspection. Its striking use of color and texture makes it a testament to modern expressionism, challenging traditional boundaries and inviting individual interpretation.
Presentation
"Every painting I begin, the layers and texture continue to fascinate me as does the process. My subject matter remains the same, the material itself, the coast, the sea, lines of desire that criss-cross the landscape, time and its corrosive effect on materials and finding the beauty in what we see around us. The world filters into my studio, colour, light, politics, religion, people. Conversations remain with me, maps mesmerize me, travel enthuses me. Creating and painting is an imperative I couldn't live a day without.“
