The Dialectic of Weight and Radiance
The Metaphysics ofLight and Matter investigatesthe perpetual dialoguebetween the physical density of the tangible
world and the transformative power of light in the painting of Sergey Sologub. Rather than simply capturing static
appearances, the artist interrogates how inanimate matter, culinary rituals, and living bodies reveal their internal
essence when struck by directional daylight, refractive caustics, and geometric framing.
The curatorial architecture traces an ascending path from terrestrial containment toward weightlessness and
boundless space across five thematic spheres: Earth & Ritual, Organic Vitality, The Human Presence, Refraction &
Thresholds, and The Boundless Element. In Sologub's visual universe, nothing is incidental: whether capturing the
scored crust of artisan bread, a sliced watermelon on a circular tondo, or the endless swells of the Pacific, each
subject is calibrated with cinematic precision and profound philosophical stillness.
