Jeanie Lewis Napangardi

Jeanie Napangardi Lewis was born around 1950 on her ancestral lands near Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay) in the Northern Territory. Jeanie's traditional homeland is Mina Mina, west of Yuendumu, an isolated Aboriginal community 290 km northwest of Alice Springs, in the heart of Australia. Jeanie's family lived in and around Mina Mina before moving to Yuendumu, and later to Nyirrpi, where she has lived for many years. She was married to Mickey Jampijinpa Singleton, an artist who drew heavily on her Water Dreaming.

Jeanie has been painting since 2005. She paints her stories, her dreams, but the one that constantly recurs is Mina Mina Jukurrpa (Dream of the Mina Mina site). In her paintings, she symbolically represents birds, trees, and wild potatoes around small bodies of water in Mina Mina.
