Presentation

Ronnie Tjampitjinpa was born in 1943 in Australia, near Muyinga which remains to this day an almost unexplored region of the country. He began painting in the 80s.

In 1970, he became involved with a movement defending the rights of the aborigines, so that they could return to live on their land. Having played an important political role, he decided to return to his home in 2002 to devote himself solely to painting.

Ronnie Tjampitjinpa's style is easily identifiable. The geometry in his paintings strikes the viewer, and testifies of the cerebrality often associated with the art Pintupi, which he practiced with his family during his youth.

Ronnie Tjampitjinpa is now a renowned figure of Aboriginal art in Australia.

He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Several of his works are present at the Museum of Quai Branly.
