Debbie Napaljarri Brown is an Australian Aboriginal artist from the Warlpiri people, born in 1985 in Nyirripi and living in the Yuendumu community in the Central Australian Desert. She is part of the Warlukurlangu Aboriginal Artists Corporation in Yuendumu, where she has been painting since 2006.
Her grandmother, Margaret Napangardi Brown (also an artist in the cooperative), taught her to paint. Her grandfather, Pegleg Tjampitjinpa (a renowned Pintupi artist), was born around 1920 and grew up in the Wilkinkarra area, leading a traditional life. Debbie watched her grandmother and grandfather paint and listened to her grandmother's Jukurrpa (Dreaming) stories.
In her paintings, Debbie depicts the Jukurrpa that have been passed down to her and that relate directly to her ancestral land, its features, plants, and animals.
