Bénédicte De Meeus

My immersion in the concepts of contemporary design and architecture during my youth in the 1960s and 1970s had a great influence on my work.

The end of my studies in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur (Belgium) marked a turning point. The search for light became self-evident, a necessity; capturing the essence and defining it by creating a space with clean, symbolic forms, such as the square or the circle. I also discovered the artist James Turrell, whose vibrant and spiritual art moved me deeply and encouraged me to continue my explorations.

The material allows me to express the vibration of colors and their radiance. Bringing forth a luminous presence always gives me joy.
