Alexandra Jagoda

Alexandra Jagoda is a Belgian contemporary artist born in Ukraine, where she began her artistic journey before settling in Belgium in 1999. She studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Kortrijk and has exhibited internationally, including ART3F Paris, Artbox.Project Miami, Artbox.Project World, Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid, and Casa Del Arte Palma. Since 2022, she has worked as a full-time artist from her studio in Belgium.

Working primarily in oil, charcoal, and mixed media, Alexandra explores the relationship between memory, landscape, and identity. Inspired by the rugged coastlines of Ireland and Scotland, the quiet countryside of England, and the vast landscapes of the American West, she creates paintings that move beyond topographical description to evoke atmosphere and emotional experience.

Texture is central to her visual language. Using palette knives, expressive brushwork, charcoal, and handmade collage, she builds layered surfaces where light, material, and gesture become as meaningful as the image itself. Her landscapes invite contemplation, while her figurative works examine identity, transformation, and the traces memory leaves behind.

Rather than documenting specific places or people, Alexandra creates spaces where personal experience and collective memory intersect. Through the physical presence of paint and the tactile qualities of her materials, she encourages viewers to slow down and engage with each work beyond its surface, discovering new details as light and perspective continually reshape the image.
