Freddy Murillo

I am a Bolivian plastic artist born in Oruro, Bolivia in 1956.

I have for more than 40 years painted the beauty of life, with 60 individual exhibitions and around 150 collective exhibitions across Bolivia and many Latin American cities, my works are present in multiple private and public collections in the Americas and Europe.

I obtained a degree in Architecture and received training in the visual arts independently from private teachers and through self-training.

Throughout the years I developed a preference for sculpture and oil painting, researching, and experimenting many forms and techniques of expression until I found my own style.

The plateaus and high peaks of the Andes were my main sources of inspiration through their landscapes that seem filled of a celestial air and often appear as touching the sky.

I paint the beautiful sunrise with its fresh scent, the sunset with its last sun rays and the first night lights, all that my eyes could see in the time I had to live.

The way I portray on the canvas each project is to first capture the idea through the initial defragmented sketch that is then reconstructed with a concept of modular creative unity, complemented by technical resources like geometry and aerial perspective constructed at times with infinite viewpoints.

The most peculiar characteristic of my work is the use of the sphere, inscribed almost in the entirety of my work as a trademark, representing the ovule, the start of life and the beginning of everything.
