Biography
Iva Ivanova’s precise drawing work demonstrates years of experience and obsession with drawing. With fast, often impulsive execution, the hard-applied line becomes a deciphering symbol of a new political body, contemporary landscape of its emotional maps. Iva Ivanova’s artistic strategies ignore all social or political norms, boundaries and boxes, she is focused on the existential now, the non-normative in us. Her drawing becomes an explosive chaos that gives new individual systems of order to understand. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1989, Iva Ivanova studied scenography in the class of Anna Viebrock at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria. Working in the fields of scenography and drawing, Iva values the personal and intimate story and uses the illusion and deconstruction of reality as her main concepts.
