Biography
Chinese artist Xinyi Cheng currently lives and works in Paris, France. Her paintings focus on exploring human expression and emotion, looking at the ways we display sensations of intimacy, unease, alienation, peacefulness, and how these make us human. Cheng uses as her subjects range from commonplace objects, friends, family, strangers and animals, each starting from a spark of inspiration from her own observations.
Cheng's work has been exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, and Lafayette Anticipations, Paris, as well as group exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris, the 13th Shanghai Biennale, and the Bourse de Commerce, Paris.
