Yang Fudong

Born in China in 1971, Yang Fudong is a visual artist currently specializing in film, photography, and video installation pieces. Fudong began his career upon graduating from the oil painting programme at the China Academy of Fine Arts in 1995. His work now relates to historical and sociopolitical themes, with the use of black-and-white being a motif throughout his work.

The artist’s work has been showcased at avant-garde exhibitions and permanent displays across the globe. Now represented by ShanghART Gallery, Fudong has exhibited his work at the Venice Biennale, The Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art in Australia, and at the Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna.
