Biography

Throughout his career as a painter, Kateřina Štenclová has systematically and almost exclusively devoted himself to abstract painting.

His main means of expression are colour, the relationship between geometric and organic surfaces, the painter's gesture, the form of the support and the possibility of installation of the pictorial works.

The exhibition presented at the U Bílého Jednorožce gallery in Klatovy is not a classic chronological retrospective of the painter, but an illustrative overview of the subjects, principles and methods present in her work since the late 1980s. Among these is the exploration of colors, monochromy, the superposition of the motif and the image itself, the confrontation of structures due to chance and thoughtful constructions. Kateřina Štenclová's work is marked by a notable continuity and the cyclical returns of certain formal responses. Thus we can find in each thematic section of the exhibition works that are separated by tens of years. And yet they immediately unite in reciprocal dialogue.
