Biography
I work to bring out, restore a vital impetus, that of buried moments and places that can be those of everyone.
I only use saturated colors, I superimpose them with textured smears to produce plural colorations and tend towards emotional intensity. The color, the brushstroke and their vagaries thus produce complex atmospheres, transcultural devices to reinforce the experience of the image. The superimposed colors constitute time, present, past, future.
I paint the immemorial figures that are the houses which also signify families, stories of neighborhoods, temporalities. These painted houses have no particular style, they can be everywhere, belong to everyone who looks at them. They are a bit like people who deliver part of their secrets, also lead on false tracks, or bring back our own memory.
I stayed in China for a long time, I also devote myself during certain periods to ink painting, for its immediacy, unlike the slowness of oil painting, for the plastic richness that the innumerable varieties of Chinese brushes.
The work is accomplished when I see it autonomous and regenerating, opening onto a cosmos, when I am convinced of its ability to reach the viewer's empathy and memory.
