Born in Paris in the early 80s, self-taught, Renaud was attracted to writing and drawing at a young age, despite a certain disadvantage being left-handed. It was through the years 90-2000 and the practice of graffiti that his love for letters really took shape.
Naturally this passion led him to explore lettering and typography first and later calligraphy in greater depth through its various tools such as reeds, pens and brushes... A complicated practice for a left-handed person but allows him by freeing himself voluntarily using certain codes to transcribe our Roman alphabet in its own way. A research thus placing him in the urban current called "Calligraffiti" or urban calligraphy, constantly pushing him to create and perpetuate this infinite work around a treatment of the letter according to his own inspirations or visions by limiting so much as possible any influence.
Since his installation in Avignon a few years ago, his work in the studio as in the street is articulated particularly around this research of lettering but also of a use and a more abstract and ornamental vision of calligraphy. Thus, using downstrokes and upstrokes with a pen or a brush, he tries to transcribe volume like the practice of pointillism in his compositions by a saturation of successive layers.
