After having studied academic drawing, graphic design and worked on color using the various pictorial techniques at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes... My passion for drawing naturally led me to work with Indian ink.
Pen, brushes, bamboo... I like the strong contrasts between the white and the black, between the material of the paper and the ink which leaves an indelible trace... the effects rendered between the matte of Indian ink and the brilliance brought by a few touches of color with these lacquer-based inks.
I like to paint the beauty of the sea dismounted by terrible storms, huge waves... and the Fortunes of the sea, these carcasses of old ships that have been shipwrecked... abandoned... cradled by the waves... waiting for their last tide. We then discover these pieces of wreckage, with this gnawed wood, this rusty metal, this peeling paint with just a few stains of color... and sometimes curious unexpected shapes.
These are my sources of inspiration, Nature in all its splendor and distress too... and the reflection of time on the hard work of the men of the sea.
My paintings bear the names of stars or constellations...the very ones that guided these men on all the seas of the globe.
