Presentation

Édouard Martinet practices the art of transformation, in a die-hard version. From dusty mechanics, his raw material, he obtains the impossible, works of finesse that highlight the beauty of the animal world. A work of goldsmith.
Each sculpture is born from a concordance between objects from a bygone time and the projection of an insect or an animal with unreal perfection. Both a scrap dealer and an entomologist, he hunts for and collects old pieces of metal which he dismantles, piles up and sorts in his workshop. Without any welding, he reassembles solex mudguards, bicycle headlights, and other typewriter parts to re-create a fabulous metal bestiary.
If the transformation is a matter of technical prowess, the sculptor's vision, full of poetry, and a keen sense of observation, breathe a soul into each new creation.
Edouard Martinet was born in Le Mans in 1963.
A graduate of Esag-Penninghen Paris (1988), he lives and works in Rennes.
