Yves-Marie Péron is a French painter, born in Brest in 1939. Son of a Navy painter, Pierre Perron, he grew up in the artistic environment. The family moved to Montmartre where his father set up his studio. Yves Marie lived among drawing cartons and easels whereas during his vacation in the Finistere region, he explored shores and rocks. Yves Marie Peron lived in Paris for a few years before going back to Brest during the 90's.
The artist loves paper and lays down layers of abstract work on it. He draws inspiration from his homeland Brittany. Ouessant island is a breeding ground of colors and ideas. "I am inspired by the water holes, when the sea withdraws itself, the world is your oyster", says the artist. He's influenced by Victor Segalen, Saint-John Perse and François Cheng, his art is filled with poetry.
Yves-Marie Péron did his first exhibition in 1967 in Brest. He also devoted a major part of his career to decorating fabrics. He manufactured silk scarves for Hermès. During the 80's, his notoriety went beyond France and he began exhibiting in capitals of Europe, North America. One can also find his work in Melbourne, Singapore, Hong-Kong, Lisbon, Luxembourg, Bordeaux and Paris, to name a few.
