I practice calligraphy, watercolor and, more recently, engraving, exploring the staging of letters and texts, until the illustration spontaneously emerges.

Biography

I practice calligraphy, watercolor, and, more recently, printmaking.

Calligraphy: from the Greek "kellos graphos": "beautiful writing." This art (which I learned extensively at the late Comptoir des Ecritures in Paris) consists of laying out "historical" lettering, inventing contemporary ones, or even playing between the two, to enhance the texts. The texts explode, the illustration imposes itself.

This is where watercolor comes in. A lover of Japanese prints, I am influenced by the Chinese Xieyi painting technique. My favorite theme: nature: water, trees, landscapes, animals, and sometimes a bit of architecture. This is part of an impressionist approach: for me, it's not about representing the reality of countries, lived in, traveled through (or imagined) in a photographic way, but rather suggestively. I am very interested in evoking movement, the breath that animates every being, every thing.
