Biography
Stéphane Philippe is a sculptor whose approach has been built through formative experiences, notably his apprenticeship in Chile and his collaboration with Walter Notz, which profoundly marked his relationship to matter and creation.
Her work explores sculpture as a sensitive language, capable of translating the inexpressible.
He first models his works in clay, seeking to capture the essence of a presence rather than its representation. The pieces are then cast in bronze at the Jaizquibel Artistic Foundry, before the artist personally intervenes in the finishing touches. Through meticulous mirror-polishing, Stéphane Philippe transforms the surface into an almost liquid material, subtly and fluidly capturing light and reflecting the surrounding environment.
The precise choice of patinas, combined with polished surfaces, creates profound contrasts between shadow and light. Through abstract busts with clean lines, inspired in particular by Brancusi, Stéphane Philippe develops a body of work where forms, light, and reflections compose a space of silent communication, inviting contemplation and emotion.
