Michele Morando

Michele Morando (1978) is an Italian painter and visual artist who has lived in France since 2010. His work explores the tensions between the visible and the invisible, through an approach in which light and atmosphere play a fundamental role. He develops a style of painting imbued with a certain cinematic melancholy.

Having started working at the age of 17, he held various jobs before being able to fully dedicate himself to art. He discovered artistic practice on his own, without guidance or reference points, in an environment far removed from the art world, before gradually forging his own path. This experience, enriched by contrasting realities, permeates his sensitive and intuitive approach to creation. His first foray into art was through writing, particularly poetry. He composed several collections and won three literary prizes, enabling his work to be published. Simultaneously, he discovered cinema and explored its possibilities through video. But one cannot serve two masters. The choice was made: to abandon cinema and move further, towards painting. Always seeking experimentation, he favors an intuitive approach where matter and light dictate the composition of the image.
