Emmanuelle Stolar

France • 1967

My works are born from a deep need to create refuges in a world filled with noise and tension. I offer sensitive spaces where one can slow down and breathe.

Biography

Sand, or the sensation left under my hand by these clays with their unique grain, which I choose to compose my paintings, wall panels, and frescoes. Raw clays that I discovered 20 years ago when I settled in Provence, my adopted home. Gray sandstones reminiscent of concrete, powdery honey, chocolate, or black, on which I engrave my designs.

My enamels are tinted glass, the tones of which I create myself. From the most transparent to the most opaque, from the most matte to the most glossy, I strive for the depth of my colors, and this quest represents a significant, sometimes very long, time until the final result. When, upon opening my kiln, I tremble before this crystallized white, I burn with the desire to share it with you by delicately placing it at the heart of each of my hanging gardens.

Today I divide my life between my workshop in the southern Luberon, in the heart of the village of Cadenet, and my very Parisian showroom in the Marais, a few meters from the national archives.

I invite you to take the time to observe my paintings, and to lose yourself in them with delight.

Since 2008, I have been undertaking continuing professional training with Danielle Casimiri, a certified teacher in all ceramic techniques: modeling, throwing, glazing techniques…

In 2018 and 2022, I completed my training with advanced level filming internships with Marc Uzan, international master, certified training funded by professional training.

In 2022, I completed my studies with further training, again with Marc Uzan, in research on high-temperature enamels.

From 2020 to 2022, I also took drawing courses at the Beaux-Arts in Aix-en-Provence to perfect my skills in decoration.

Since January 2022, I have had professional status and ceramic fresco painting is my sole occupation.

In spring 2026, I am opening a Parisian showroom in the Marais district.
