Biography
John Hamon lives and works in Paris. Since 2001, John Hamon has promoted himself as an artist by systematically using his portrait. This approach is associated with the formula: “It is the promotion that makes the artist or the zero degree of art. There is in this approach a desire to make the artist master of his destiny.
Here, as in an election campaign, John Hamon is the creator of his promotion and therefore of his recognition as an artist. In the desire to focus the viewer's attention on his subject, he avoids getting involved aesthetically in his work. This is how many of his works involve other artists who can intervene on his visual. This helps to clarify the message that promotion is essential to be an artist and that it is not essential to draw, paint or whatever.
