Presentation

Strongly inspired by the elements of nature, Michel Biot seeks to express in his paintings the emotions, the inner forces, the life of the elements of nature. His work, with musical accents, explores the vertigo of space. Through abstraction, he offers us a striking vision of nature, original and passionate. Michel Biot was born in Lyon in 1936 and passed away in 2020.

From 1952 to 1955, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. From 1960, he worked in the studio of Robert Lapoujade. His first solo exhibition took place in 1964, at the gallery L'œiloute. From 1960 to the present day, Michel Biot has painted more than 6,000 canvases, and has made more than 90 personal exhibitions, both in France and in Paris (Galeries JCL Bellier, DLM, Henri Benezit, Galarte, Artitude, Espace Châtelet Victoria, Etienne de Causans and, in the provinces (Lyon, Limoges, Toulouse, Clermont-Ferrand, Troyes, etc.) and abroad: Switzerland (Lausanne), Holland (Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Delft), Luxembourg, Spain (Madrid), Mexico (Institute of Latin America), New York, Nassau, San Francisco, Kansas City. In 1970 he received the Fénéon painting prize, given at the Sorbonne in Paris. 

In 1979, a one man show was organized at the FIAC by the DLM gallery. His works have been acquired by numerous collectors and by the City of Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Ministry of Culture, the National Fund of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Fine Arts of Dijon, where in the Pierre Granville Foundation, a room is dedicated to him, the Museum of Boulogne, Rouen, Nassau, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, the Main Museum in Lausanne, Tirana Museum in Brussels (Palais de l'Europe). Permanent exhibition of 8 large canvases on Genesis at the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Jouarre (77).
