Gérard Dutreix was born in 1950 and is a self taught painter who used to be a graphic designer. He paints with acrylic and uses flat tint technique. Over time black and white paintings replaced the colors painting mostly women portraits. After a long preparatory research, followed by transformations and incrustations, faces are modified, embellished, "geometrized" to create a brand new image. Drawing remains at the heart of the painting, and given the time the artist spends with each face the painting turns into a meeting, a love story and a share path. Pleasure cannot be dissociated from the ties and remains once the portrait is finished.
