Audrey Nervi (Lyon, 1974) continues her pictorial dialogue with the world of today, this world that she observes attentively from its margins, from the indebted countries, degraded by the authorities of international finance, put into bankruptcy, but also from the temporary occupation zones where alternative worlds are thought out and invented. From her itineraries, she brings back many photographs, documents which touch on her personal life and more broadly testify to current communities and lifestyles. Through the work of painting, she reinvests these lived moments and loads them with meaning, beyond the anecdote and the picturesque, making her characters emblems and her scenes symbols, mainly of the generalized crisis. Through the connections that she makes between her paintings, in the form of cinematographic sequences, narratives begin, for example by means of mirrored constructions: to a half-sunken liner responds a frail boat which spins on the horizon; a makeshift shelter built in a meadow dialogue with three sleeping figures on a sofa, covered with a large fabric. Where are we most sheltered today, inside or outside? And in what world should we hide even inside? So many questions addressed to the viewer by these works which represent reality by infusing it with emotion, criticism and concern. The touch developed by the artist undoubtedly has a lot to do with it, which envelops everything in a soft blur, that of memory, of distance perhaps, that in any case of a strangeness that largely exceeds simple reproduction. . This is the link that is woven from canvas to canvas with reality, through painting which occupies Audrey Nervi as much as it occupies it.
