Presentation

Self-taught, Mika Nak stood out for his incredible dexterity in handling letters to form living works. His art tries to mix texts and forms to give life to deep works where the reading of the work, the text and the form alternate. The colors can be bright or sober. Faces appear in this chain of words and shapes. An effective mixture which disturbs the retina which vacillates between text and image. Mika Nak, through his work on color and words, deconstructs and decomposes faces, animals or objects to give movement, and always surprise the eye of the "reader" with each vision of the work which will be different and is rediscovered each time. Forms and volumes are born from color and text. This mixture offers his works an expressiveness, a force and a treatment of portrait, animals or striking objects. In his own way, Mika Nak remakes the human face, animals or objects in each of his paintings. The words are launched on the medium like dancing on a score. Its energy gives each touch the intensity of a sound vibration. Words are musical touches, dissonant and noisy like life. But in the space of the painting, they harmonize in a single stamp which, to each of the faces, of its animals or objects, gives its soul. Graphics evolving over time, letters are "signs" reflecting and influencing the psyche of the man who draws them. This slow alchemy which governs the relationship between the deep thought of man and his favorite means of expression, drawing, has played an undeniable role in the creation of the Universe and its evolution. The letter would be the basic material of both the material universe and the immaterial universe. In many traditions, we find these close links between mystical research and calligraphy.
