Biography
Born in Nantes in 1965, having spent the first five years of her life in Taravao, a small village in Tahiti, Monica Jacquin's work is informed by the places she lived : Paris, Marseille, Montpellier, Massif Central the Pyrénées Mountains, Papeete-Tahiti, Martinique, the US, Quebec, Italy, Brazil, Morocco.
Monica Jacquin's studies and experience in visul arts, photography and video have marked her life and artistic career. The specificity of her work resides in her exploration of classical materials (charcoal, ink, chalk, oil, acrylic) and of large formats, with the restraints and joy of drawing live models, with almost no retouches.
