A key figure in French rap iconography for over twenty years, Fabrice Fournier, aka Fifou, is a French photographer and art director living and working in Paris. At the intersection of fashion photography and documentary reporting, his photographs capture the faces of a generation influenced by contemporary urban culture.
Initially an illustrator and graphic designer for fanzines such as or , he quickly found himself with a camera in his hands at the beginning of the 2000s. By capturing emblematic icons, to name just Booba, SCH, PNL, Rim'K, Dinos, he quickly became a privileged witness to a culture in full effervescence.
His work is deeply influenced by 1990s hip-hop culture, but also by the American cinema of Scorsese and Tarantino, and photographers Helmut Newton, David LaChapelle, and Jonathan Mannion.
Fifou manages to develop his symbolic and unique aesthetic by handling both digital and the claimed spontaneity of film.
