Biography
Henri Lebasque (1865–1937) was a French painter known for his depictions of light-filled landscapes, intimate interior scenes, and portraits, often featuring women in everyday settings. Born in Champigné, France, he studied at the École des beaux-arts in Paris and was influenced by the Post-Impressionist movement, particularly the work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, whom he admired.
A member of the Fauvist movement, Lebasque embraced vivid color and expressive brushstrokes while retaining a sense of harmony and serenity in his compositions. His paintings often captured leisurely moments, such as figures in gardens or by the sea, exuding a sense of tranquility and warmth.
