Biography
Christian Martinon is a French sculptor born in 1954.
Since his childhood, Christian Martinon was fascinated by pieces made out of soil, when he discovered a workshop near Nice, that proposed him an apprenticeship, he got enrolled for two years.
During several years, In order to continue improving his practice, Christian did several internships in order to experiment with different techniques around ceramics. His sculptures, often of very large sizes, allow the observers to appreciate all its fine materials and the artist's proficiency.
The inspiration and Christian Martinon's models are very diverse, after a long series around the portraits of famous personages, mostly actors, he turned also towards the animal world. In his most recent pieces Christian uses a lot of Raku ceramics and glass.
