Manuel-Angel Serrano was born in 1967. He graduated from the Superior School of Art in Avignon. He learned photography with Reza and Hervé Vincent and participated to the «Ô Douce Nuit» show of Tadeusz Kantor. While being devoted to painting, his favorite artistic mode of expression, he created series of terra cotta painted birds that find their place in different environments, outdoor or indoor and can be thought in situ.
He realized some super 8 films for installations and won the prize of the jury at the Super 8 Festival in Paris in 1999 for Commandant C. He worked as a painter decorator for Artefact, Courthézon, and collaborated as a plastic artist for choreographies (Barbara Serreau, Guilène Renaud).
He teaches artistic practice workshops (painting, drawing and super 8) to students (ISRP Marseille), children (Contemporary Art Center of Istres) and to autistic and disabled adults (artistic residence 3bisf, Aix-en-Provence from 1997 to 1999).
